Gooseneck Implement Hosts NDSU Extension Youth Farm Safety Event
June 11, 2018
Kenmare Service Manager, Terry Mertz, discussed lawn mower safety with some attendees.

KENMARE, N.D. – Gooseneck Implement and the NDSU Extension Service teamed up to educate future farmers about staying safe around machinery. The event was hosted at the Kenmare Gooseneck store last Friday. Kids ages 8 to 16 were in attendance from Minot, Berthold, Kenmare and the surrounding area.

The group was able to divide by ages and attend different mini-sessions that covered safety topics such as: augers, PTOs, fumes, chemicals, and agriculture equipment.

Gooseneck employees, NDSU Extension agents, and Farm Safety for Just Kids volunteers shared their knowledge through presentations, reaction-time simulations and interactive games.

Paige Brummond, NDSU Extension agent, told KMOT, “We’re covering mower safety, power take offs. We’re talking about augers, grain bin safety. Just all of the things that people encounter when they’re on the farm.”

Gooseneck Implement enjoyed helping provide the resources to educate young ones about the importance of safety around machinery. We strive to promote the practice of safely using equipment both with our customers and in our stores.
