Why Your GS2 or GS3 Display May Be Missing Activations (And What to Do Next)
Since January 1, 2026, some operators are noticing missing activations or ‘Invalid Activation Code’ errors on certain GreenStar™ displays. This issue has been documented through John Deere DTAC cases and is tied to how date and time are recognized within the system.
Displays Potentially Affected
- GS2 2600
- GS2 2100
- GS2 1800
- GS3 2630
- GS3 CommandCenter
What’s Causing This?
The issue is related to how these displays handle date transitions beyond 2025, which can impact activation recognition.
Solutions by Display Type
- GS3 2630 & GS2 1800
- Update display software through StellarSupport
- This update can be completed by customers if preferred
- GS3 CommandCenter
- Install the latest software for the VTV or VTI controller
- This update requires a technician due to EDL use
- A PIP program is expected to support this update
- GS2 2600 & GS2 2100 (Workaround)
- There is currently no software update available, but functionality can be restored with the following steps:
- Navigate to: Menu → Display → Settings → Time/Date
- Uncheck: “Use GPS Time and Date” (or “GPS Time Sync”)
- Set the year to 2025 or earlier
- Perform a cold boot:
- Power off
- Disconnect power for ~30 seconds
- Reconnect and restart
- Important:
- You may still see an “Invalid Activation Code” message
- Display functionality will still operate normally
- Work documentation remains accurate, as it continues using GPS time
