Meet Matt!
General Manager—Minot, ND
Matt Borud’s journey with Gooseneck Implement started long before his career officially began—he grew up at the Kenmare location, where his dad was the manager and owner, spending summers helping out on the lot. From mowing the grass, cleaning offices and shops, and washing equipment, to assisting technicians with setups and deliveries, Matt learned the business from the ground up. The summer after high school, he worked in the parts department, stocking shelves, loading trucks, and organizing inventory. During college, he became involved in sales—handling used equipment advertising, performing demos, and assisting with equipment evaluations and quotes. After graduation, he became a full-time salesman, eventually stepping into the role of General Manager in Kenmare in 2013, and most recently, he transitioned to General Manager in Minot. Along the way, he gained experience in virtually every aspect of the business.
For Matt, Genuine Passion means enjoying what you do and showing you care by going above and beyond for teammates and customers. He feels most fulfilled when he can help a customer get up and running or assist a teammate in doing the same. Genuine Gratitude shines through in the everyday interactions he observes—customers thanking the team when someone goes above and beyond, teammates expressing appreciation when a colleague steps in to help, and experienced employees mentoring newer team members simply because they want to.
He is most proud of the dedication of his team. “Everyone wants to help the customer and do everything they can to make sure they’re taken care of,” Matt shares. Working with Gooseneck customers is what he enjoys most about his role—finding solutions, solving problems, and getting people what they need to keep operations moving.
Something people might be surprised to learn about Matt? In 2010, he donated a kidney to his dad—a testament to his commitment to family and helping others. Outside of work, Matt jokes that if he weren’t in the agriculture equipment world, he’d probably still be the guy working on the lot at Gooseneck, doing a little bit of everything he loves about the business. For now, though, he says there’s no place he’d rather be than helping customers, supporting his team, and being part of the Gooseneck family.
